Payroll Updates: Labor Day 2021

2021 labor day payroll schedule holiday

On Monday, September 6th, we will celebrate Labor Day (the first Monday in September) to honor all of us working folks! Labor Day commemorates the creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of American workers.

Though we hope you’ll take time throughout the first week in September to cheer on your team and thank them for their contributions, we also have a slightly more practical reason for writing today. We want to remind you that since the Federal Reserve also observes Labor Day as a holiday, you may need to do some additional payroll prep next week before your much-needed rest day.

Both Southland Data Processing and the Federal Reserve will be closed on September 6th in observance of Labor Day. Because of this, transfers will be pushed back a day for check dates on or after the holiday. Direct deposits will also not be live for payrolls with check dates on September 6th.

For your employees to receive their pay by September 6th, you should:

  • Change your check date to Friday, September 3rd
  • Send your payroll by 2:00 PM PT on Wednesday, September 1st

Other affected check dates that will need to submit early:

  • Checks dated Tuesday, September 7th – send payroll by 2:00 PM PT on Thursday, September 2nd
  • Checks dated Wednesday, September 8th – send payroll by 2:00 PM PT on Friday, September 3rd

We recommend you always check the Transfers section on your Payroll Summary report, which has the exact transfer amounts and dates.

As always, our team is here to help with any questions you have about your payroll or check dates. We’ll always pick up the phone, so don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.

Wishing you and yours a restful and enjoyable Labor Day!

Holiday, Payroll
