Brett

Making SB 616 compliance easy involves a combination of education, support and efficient systems. We’re working hard to ensure our clients have access to simplified solutions and the tools needed for appropriate deployment, communication and management.

First, lets start with SB 616 basics, which affects California Sick Leave regulations. SB 616 was signed by California’s Governor Newsom on October 4, 2023 and goes into effect on January 1, 2024. Employers must provide a minimum of 40 hours (5 days) of Paid Sick Leave per year. According to the new policy, “Employees are required to be provided 24 hours (3 days) of Paid Sick Leave by the 120th day of employment and 40 hours of accrued sick leave or paid time off by the 200th calendar day of employment or each calendar year, or in each 12-month period.” A complete review of SB 616 is available on the California Legislative Information website.
